Bob's Story

For Bob Tuit, paving and landscaping isn’t just a business—it’s something he grew up doing. Bob’s father and uncle owned a paving company, and from the time Bob was about nine years old, he spent Saturdays working alongside his father. He started out helping dig foundations and learning the basics of working with the land. By the time he was 13, he was spending his summers working full-time paving and gaining hands-on experience with asphalt, stone, grading, and excavation. But his education didn’t stop with paving. Growing up, Bob’s father taught him how drainage systems worked, including sewer lines, water lines, and septic systems. At the family farm in New York State, they even built septic systems by hand—digging the area, making concrete, and constructing what was needed long before today’s equipment and ready-made systems made the job easier. Those early experiences taught Bob something that has stayed with him throughout his career: a successful job isn’t just about what you see on the surface. Understanding the ground, proper drainage, and what’s happening underneath is just as important as the finished product. Bob also began landscaping at a young age, learning about lawns, plantings, property maintenance, and how the different parts of a property work together. In 1986, Bob officially started his own landscaping company, building on the skills and experience he had gained working alongside his father from such a young age. He spent years maintaining lawns, completing plantings, and improving properties while continuing to expand his knowledge of drainage, excavation, and site work. A few years later, Bob added paving to the business, bringing together the different trades he had learned throughout his life. What began as a landscaping company grew into Bob Tuit Paving & Landscaping, offering customers the benefit of decades of hands-on experience both above and below the ground.

Today, Bob brings that experience to every project. Whether it’s a driveway, drainage problem, excavation, hardscape, or complete property improvement, he looks at the entire job—not just the surface. For Bob, it all goes back to what he learned working alongside his father as a kid: Do the job right, understand what’s underneath it, and build it to last.
